We are passionate about how and where our food comes from. Growing food and raising animals in sync with nature is of upmost importance. We strive to produce nourishing food, starting with soil health first.
Scientific research shows that the nutrients present in your food have a direct correlation with the nutrients available to them in the soil. We follow a no-till method of gardening. Less soil disturbance lends to a healthy, bio-active soil. No pesticides or herbicides are used on any of our products.
Our animals have access to a wild pond and lush lawn, complete with dandelions, plantain, and wild violets! As the years go on, we are constantly in awe at the miracle of growing your own food and caring for God's creatures.
When one thinks of homesteading, it's usually not on two acres. After searching for land without success and becoming greatly discouraged by the real estate market, we became determined to continue on anyways. After all, homesteading is not defined by the quantity of land owned, but by your state of mind. An immense amount of food can be produced on two acres.
Additionally, resourcefulness is paramount when it comes to homesteading. If you can't grow it or raise it, chances are you can find someone in your area who does and is willing to sell or trade. On our two acres, we've raised chickens, quail, ducks, and geese. We started with a small garden that has expanded over the years. We planted several apple trees when we first moved onto the homestead that are beginning to produce, and recently started a variety of berries.
We hunt for deer and grouse in the fall, and buy beef and pork from local farmers and friends. Of course we also grocery shop, but every year we strive to produce more. In the summer, we buy from the farmers market whenever possible and in turn provide our surplus to the community for purchase.
We'd like to thank you for all your support! Without it, local, small businesses could not thrive.
